First Storm

What caught my eye: The wind from the season’s first storm beat against the sides of the house all night leaving drifts of snow in unexpected places. The wood pile on the east porch is typically well protected. On this morning, the ends of the wood were iced over, but each piece retained its distinct shape. Oddly, the more exposed end of the pile was where more wood was visible. This change, from snow covered to exposed wood, was what caught my eye.
