Insect Art

Shot on: Nikon D800 with Nikkor AF-S-micro, f/11, 1/160 sec, 105 mm

What caught my eye: At first glace it’s just a burnt stump. On closer inspection, it is the story of the death of a tree. The insects made their home under the bark leaving behind a larva gallery pattern resembling ivy. When fire came, the dead tree’s bark easily burned away exposing the pattern. The results is eerie but oddly beautiful.
