Purple Marshlocks

What caught my eye: I saw what looked like purple sepals on a plant. The color was interesting and I recognized its leaves as cinquefoil. I wanted to know more about it. With the magnification of my camera I could see it was not the sepals I was looking at, but the petals. I had never seen a purple cinquefoil. It was purple marshlocks (Comarum palustrea) a species of marsh cinquefoils. They are not very common in the wild and may soon be listed as endangered. It is not a showy flower, but Iā€™m glad I captured it.
