The Mushroom Post

We were in Fairbanks for two days of Jeep maintenance and needed something to do. I found Creamer’s Migratory Waterfowl Refuge near our hotel. There were some birds there, but of course I was mesmerized by the mushrooms. I can’t identify mushrooms. Ok, maybe a few at the grocery store. The fungus at the refuge had such a diversity of colors and shapes how could I not spend a long afternoon photographing them. And he took some bird photos.

Below is a selection of mushroom photos along with the family name as identified by PictureThis.

Pyronemataceae

Thelephoraceae

Hericiaceae

Bolbitiaceae

Coprinaceae

Ganodermataceae

Pleurotaceae

Boletaceae

Since we were at a migratory bird refuge I should provide at least a couple of bird photos.

Sandhill Crane

Female Mallard

Osprey
