What We’re Photographing

When we’re out taking photos, sometime we are looking at similar subjects. I though it might be interesting to see what we are taking at the same time and location.

My photo from Sept 10 at 2:32 is of a Callippe Fritillary (Speyeria callippe) on Rabbitbush. These butterflies are in the brush-footed butterfly family. Their front two legs are hairy and short making them ineffective as legs to stand on. This means they stand on four legs.

At the same time and place, he was taking photos of the bark of a Quacking Aspen (Populus tremuloides). As the tree ages, the bark changes from the smooth white bark to rough and gray. In this case, the change made an interesting pattern.
